It's Almost a New Year

New beginnings are wonderful! It’s almost the New Year and another new beginning is on the horizon! Time for change! Time for self-improvement! Time for resolutions! We all make New Year’s resolutions (c’mon, you know you do!) and we all break them (c’mon, you know you do that, too!)

Well, when you give your life to Jesus Christ, you have a new beginning…not just the beginning of a New Year, but the beginning of a New Life. And the really great thing is that we don’t have to make any resolutions that we know (I mean really, really know) that we’re going to break. All we have to do is confess our sins to Him, acknowledge His Lordship, and invite Him to live in our hearts. He’ll do all the rest.

Will there be changes in our lives? Absolutely. But this time, the “resolutions” won’t be of your own doing and your own messing up. This time your resolutions are what He wants for your life, not what you want for yourself; and He and He alone can see you through to their completion.

Being a Christian is not a mindless, easy, nothing-ever-goes-wrong kind of life. It’s a life full of challenges, full of His help, and full of His victory. So if you haven’t begun a New Life yet...but know you really need one…just pray this little prayer: “Lord, Jesus, I acknowledge I’m a sinner and need you. Thank you for taking my sins upon Yourself on the cross and washing me clean. Thank you for restoring a right relationship for me with God the Father so that I can have eternal life. Come and live in my heart. You are my Lord.”

Happy New Life! Happy New Year!
