It's Almost a New Year

New beginnings are wonderful! It’s almost the New Year and another new beginning is on the horizon! Time for change! Time for self-improvement! Time for resolutions! We all make New Year’s resolutions (c’mon, you know you do!) and we all break them (c’mon, you know you do that, too!)

Well, when you give your life to Jesus Christ, you have a new beginning…not just the beginning of a New Year, but the beginning of a New Life. And the really great thing is that we don’t have to make any resolutions that we know (I mean really, really know) that we’re going to break. All we have to do is confess our sins to Him, acknowledge His Lordship, and invite Him to live in our hearts. He’ll do all the rest.

Will there be changes in our lives? Absolutely. But this time, the “resolutions” won’t be of your own doing and your own messing up. This time your resolutions are what He wants for your life, not what you want for yourself; and He and He alone can see you through to their completion.

Being a Christian is not a mindless, easy, nothing-ever-goes-wrong kind of life. It’s a life full of challenges, full of His help, and full of His victory. So if you haven’t begun a New Life yet...but know you really need one…just pray this little prayer: “Lord, Jesus, I acknowledge I’m a sinner and need you. Thank you for taking my sins upon Yourself on the cross and washing me clean. Thank you for restoring a right relationship for me with God the Father so that I can have eternal life. Come and live in my heart. You are my Lord.”

Happy New Life! Happy New Year!

It's Christmas!

It’s been an interesting year. Those of you who read this blog and know me personally know some of the things I’ve been through. And I just wanted to take a moment to let you know how very much I appreciate each and every one of you. Without your prayers I would never have seen the miracles that have happened in my life and in the lives of my family. Thank you for laying your own lives down for the time it takes to pray. I know that many of you have spent hours before the Father on my behalf and the only way I can “repay” you is to pray for you in return. And I do. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas as we celebrate the remembrance of the miraculous birth of Our Saviour. May our Father bless you abundantly for your caring love. Merry Christmas!!!!

Blesser or Blessee

I love digging around the Old Testament; especially Deuteronomy! There is so much treasure “buried” in this book that it absolutely takes my breath away.

It’s full of the blessings that God will put upon us. All we have to do is obey His commands, love Him with all our hearts, and cling to Him no matter what. That’s it! The blessings are ours…guaranteed…because the Word teaches us that “all of the blessings of God are Yes in Him and in Him Amen. The “Him” of course is our Lord Jesus Christ who is fulfillment of every one of God’s promises to Israel.

But did you know that in Deuteronomy 11:29, the children of Israel were commanded to “put a blessing on” Mount Gerizim and a cursing on Mount Ebal ? Want me to run that by you again?

When we place a blessing on something (or someone) that blessing serves to remind us of who we are and to Whom we belong. (Conversely, when we curse something (never someone) we demonstrate our rejection of evil and our authority over it .

So while you’re at work, wanting God to bless you, remember to be a blessing to others. How? Easy. A kind word, a complement, a helping hand, a thoughtful question, a remembrance of a co-worker’s loved one, a couple of bucks if you know they’re struggling. And prayer. Prayer is the single most powerful thing you can do for someone; because the Name of Jesus Christ is the ultimate blessing.
